Projects include:

NHS National Programme for IT (NPfIT)

Retained by NPfIT to undertake domain analysis and benefits planning for clinical communication in the NHS.  He has recently worked for NPfIT on National Services Scoping and Domain analysis, and detailed scoping for the NCRS Spine/PSIS and associated services.  Also responsible for the top-level business analysis for the PSIS Query function and the modelling of the Spine itself.

NHS National Programme for IT (NPfIT)

Retained as a consultant to the Diagnostic Imaging Messaging Project (DIMP), advising on project management, message implementation, message testing and accreditation, and supplier liaison.  Author of the Strategic Outline Case for the project.  This project included the analysis of business and data requirements for a national radiology messaging programme, including the setting up of the datasets to be carried in the messages.  He was also responsible for analysis of problems concerning the setting up of a national message testing service (based on the existing NMAS service), including strategy, choice of tools, infrastructure development, test scripts.

EHTEL (European Health Telematics Association)

Retained to advise senior governmental representatives of European healthcare systems of on IT strategy for healthcare, with particular reference to standards.

Department of Health

Contracted by the Information Policy Unit to produce the part of the Integrated Care Records Service (ICRS) specification concerned with the use of standards.  This involved the production of strategies for all areas of standardisation relevant to ICRS, including the management of the process of implementing the standards in the NHS.

NHSIA

Retained by the Clinical Communications Board  to produce an 80-page strategy for clinical messaging in the NHS, including radiology, discharge messaging and electronic records.  This was a major influence on the NHS decision to use HL7 V3 as the basis of the National Programme.

NHSIA

Auditing progress on Year 2000: this involved visiting Trusts for intensive 2-day audit exercises, examining all aspects of IT and general management.  At the end, reports were produced for senior NHS management in order to assign "traffic light" scores showing preparedness for Year 2000.

Retained to assess the effect of e-GIF on NHS procurement policies and produce appropriate guidance for publication on the web.
